Vivienne Westwood stint, I didn't intend to feature another highlight from Men's Fashion Week. Then I was chatting with my friend earlier this afternoon. I expressed hormonal dismay and told her I was feeling blue. In return, she linked me to WWD's coverage of Umit Benan's Sping 2011 RTW collection.
"This will make you feel better," she said.
And that it did.
I'm not punking you. This is not a dramatization. Benan tried to reconnect with his Turkish roots while designing his Spring collection. I appreciate an effort to reconnect with Turkey, mainly because the man behind the Repeller, (read: my dad) is Turkish. Do not insert Flotilla joke here. This reads a lot like anywhere between Mark Twain's Great Expectations, Fiddler on the Roof, and Rag & Bone's F/W 2011 collection.
While I was flipping through the images, letting out few words other than "really?" "holy shit" "seriously?" and "no," my co-worker Brenndon chimed in to offer his two cents.
"OMFG. I NEED THOSE DROP CROTCH PANTS," he said.
This what he looks like, which should clear any confusion that you may have. He does need those pants.
I offer one last bit about drop crotch pants on men. It might be retaliation against women.
