Women's football is in fashion, announcing the new line and the long-term partnership with the Swedish high street giant .
His wife may be the famous fashion designer, but David Beckham got into the act yesterday, confirming it will launch his own clothing label in February 2012.
The range, which is likely to focus on underwear are sold worldwide through a long-term partnership with H&M. Beckham has been working on the collection with his team in the last year. "The final piece of the puzzle was a business partner who has the vision and the ability to distribute these products worldwide," he said of his new relationship with the Swedish chain. "I am excited and eager to showcase the range of H&M customers from February."
Simon Fuller, Beckham's business partner, who was also behind the successful launch of fashion brand for Victoria Beckham said that collaboration, is an important step for the player. "The enthusiasm of H&M support for this initiative, along with their scale and scope, will continue to enhance the power of the image of David around the world."
Beckham is no stranger to promoting underwear, having appeared in a series of campaigns for Armani billboard in 2008. Selfridges later reported a 150% increase in sales from the writings of men.
However, despite having the power to influence trends, from haircuts to styles of play, the effect of Beckham's fashion has not always been so dramatic.
Its range of children's clothes from Marks & Spencer, released in 2002 under the name DB07, has not made children's fashion fire.
David Beckham's collection of bodywear sold in 1,800 stores H&M in around 40 countries with new designs that appear on a seasonal basis. H&M has previously collaborated on the sale of the ranks with some of the biggest names in fashion such as Stella McCartney, Karl Lagerfeld and Jimmy Choo.
