Galaxy Gloss

I am a beauty product fanatic. I am the ultimate guinea pig when it comes to anything new and even remotely exciting. I also have four sisters so between us we make up quite the team! I am loving Chanel's new lip glosses, Levres Scintillantes. I'm always excited when Chanel parcels arrive on my desk! It's the 10th Anniversary for these gorgeous glosses and to celebrate they've launched eight new shades inspired by the stars. The glosses contain pearly pink micro-pearlizers, silver reflectors, golden particles and rainbow mica. I am currently sporting both the Venus & Mica colours, depending on my mood of course! Visit www.chanel.com to view all the out of this world colours.

Make Me Up

Q&A with Makeup Artist Jay Jay Rauwenhoff

With over 20 years experience in the beauty industry Jay Jay has worked with a huge list of celebrities such as Sophie Monk, Lara Bingle and Olivia Newton-John. She has also worked with magazines as well as on tv commercials, films and Australian Fashion Week. Celebrating the launch of her first boutique hair and makeup school, Jay Jay Makeup School Sydney, I sat down with Jay Jay to pick her brains about wedding makeup. In the last 10 years Jay Jay has also worked on over 400 weddings, making her a wedding day makeup queen.

Business - Jay Jay Makeup School, Sydney, Australia

Best tips - When applying makeup it is essential that you blend, blend, blend. Less is always more.

Insists upon - Using the right brushes. It makes applying makeup much more simple.

Colour forecast for spring/summer 09/10 - Fresh colours such as gold, warm bronze, amber shimmers, browns and fresh glowy looks as well as vibrant 80’s colours - fuchsia, lilac, vermilion and blue share space on the eyes with amber shimmers as nude and cream tones.

Favourite makeup product - I really love Guerlain Bronzing Powder NR 2 but have many different favorites like Stila Cream Blusher. MAC Hush Cream Eye Shadow is a great highlighter for the nose and cheek bones.

Favourite celebrity you've worked with - Catriona Rowntree was a delight to work with! She is a naturally beautiful person who has the perfect beauty features to make any look possible. In addition, she is the most down to earth Australian celebrity I have ever worked with making my experience memorable and a delight.

Must haves for a wedding day clutch - Blot powder by MAC and Nars lip gloss in Turkish delight.

Most common makeup mistake made by brides - The most common error brides tend to make is applying excessive amounts of foundation, which makes their appearance look cakey. Another regular beauty mistake made is by brides who are drawn to applying the smokey grey tones on their eyes and often don’t blend enough.

Most memorable job experience - Was when I arrived at the house of Lady McMahon for a job and there was torrential rain. A butler greeted me with a fabulous umbrella and as you can imagine, the whole day was an incredible experience – very opulent and rich.

Jay Jay did the hair and makeup of the gorgeous Haruka Takeuni when she was married earlier this year

Creamy Dream
Inspired by Mademoiselle Chanel's affinity with Venice, Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of Chanel Make Up, has created the new Autumn Makeup Collection -The new Chanel Exclusive Creation - The Chanel Eye Gloss. As seen on the Chanel Cruise 2010 runway in Venice in May 2009, eyes become theatrical under the multiple precious effects of Perle, Or, Noir and Rouge Noir. These four iconic Chanel shades come in a silken, shiny and totally innovative cream texture. This collection remains faithful to Mademoiselle Chanel’s convictions: that beauty and elegance must be delightful and easy to enjoy. The Chanel Eye Gloss ($84) will be on counter for a limited time only from August 2nd 2009, Chanel.

Lippie Good
The perfect lippie can be hard to find but I'll give you the heads up, head to Estee Lauder counter from April 12 and pick yourself up the latest in lipstick heaven - the Pure Colour Gloss Stick. I was sent a couple of these super duper lippies and love the pinks... they're so pretty! Pure Color Gloss Stick’s unique 3D Optic Pearl Technology and microfine reflective pearl cocktail delivers full volume appearance to lips so lips appear fuller and sexier. Adding to the lip enhancing benefit of the creamy base is a comfortable signature plumping ingredient, Maxi-Lip, that with continued use, prolongs the appearance of fullness and delivers added moisture to lips. With a rich formula that melts onto lips, Pure Color Gloss Stick comes in a variety of divine shades that deliver softly sheer pearlescent coverage and a wet, glossy shine to lips.
