The Louis Vuitton New Year greetings card feature Easter Island MOAI statues. The statues represent the souls of the Rapa Nui people; they are a symbol of spiritual and cultural heritage in the world today. Louis Vuitton supports these values, which are close to its own tradition of transmitting heritage.
In 2009, Louis Vuitton will help establish a Foundation for the sustainable development of Easter Island and in Spring 2009, the Espace Louis Vuitton in Paris will hold an exhibition entitled "Silent Writings", inspired by the ancient writing of the Easter Island. In making this long-term commitment, Louis Vuitton hopes to raise awareness on the challenges that the Rapa Nui people face today and on the importance of protecting and transmitting heritage in the world.
