In this week's installment of Thematic Repelling, we get dressed for the most patriotic day of the entire American year.

shoes: Chris Benz x Alejandro Ingelmo, skirt: Lisa Perry, top: American Apparel, bracelets: Shashi, rings: Mark Henry
You wouldn't know that though by looking at the above photo because, uh, it's black and white...or muted hues to grey. Like your soul. Lucky for you, I'm easy to trust and so I am in fact, wearing our countries favorite: red, white and blue...you know what though? Before I continue I'd like to take this moment and opportunity to proverbially punch the American flag in the face. It is because of you, star spangled cloth, that I will never be able to wear my red Rag & Bone jeans with a white-collared (white collar?) navy Equipment blouse outside the confines of independence day. Model citizen fail.
But moving forward, let's talk repelling for the 4th:
This works because: You're wearing blue and white stripes up top and red and white polka dots down below. While no, those aren't stars and technically the color schemes are reversed, I think we can agree you're doing Americans a civil service. To finish off the look, think of the nude wedge as Switzerland: neutral. Not bad for the country, or in this case, outfit, but not particularly good either.
This repels because: You're not only living by our mantra and mixing prints, but also perfectly combining two of our most lethal silhouettes: a full shaped high waist skirt and a loose fit cropped top. Do I have hips? How about a torso? The world may never know. While layers don't play into the look, it is 90 degrees out, so you can thank me for that. And finally, re: the shoes, heavy, hard to walk in, inducing images of what a stork may look like while he or she walks. I dare you to ask me out.
Okay now, Happy 4th, flamingos! How do you plan to repel come weekend? Tell me. I have to know.
Also, before I officially sign off, please lend a friendly hola to our newest friend, ThreadSence, who just popped onto the right side panel of this here blog. Welcome, new friend!
And back to the important question at hand: HOW WILL YOU REPEL?
