Contrary to popular belief, single parents attract the opposite sex much more than adults without children. According to a survey by the dating site Smart date, single mothers receive 5.4 proposals chat on average, against 4.2 for singles without children.
The figures are even more significant for unmarried fathers who in chat receive on average twice as many proposals as men without children.
The study also reveals that only 35.8% of single parents feel that having one or more children is a handicap to find love. In contrast, over 42% of respondents believe that social mores have changed and blended families have become a reality. Nearly 20% of respondents even think that having a child has become an asset to find love.
This study was conducted by Smart date in May 2011, with 2788 of its members aged over 25 years.
